Honda Civic FD2R - Experimental

One of the concept performance machines that graced Mugen’s stand in Japan at the recent 2008 Tokyo Auto Salon was this carbon-clad big-bore 260 horspower Mugen RR “Experimental”, intended to explore new performance enhancing technology.
Honda’s innovative Mugen RR Concept is an experimental model armed with cutting edge technology intended to seek out further overall performance beyond their existing super-limited edition Mugen Civic Type-RR. Based on the “Mugen RR” with further weight reduction, further chassis rigidity, higher engine output, and better brake performance, this ‘Experimental’ drive also includes an optimized K20A engine that’s been tuned up to 2.2-litres (specifically 2.157cc) to create a more tractable powerband and an even higher redline. All of its 260 horsepower (at 8,200rpm) and 235Nm of torque (at 6,000rpm) is sent to the six-speed gearbox and down to the front wheels through a Mugen 1.5-way LSD.
